For your viewing pleasure is this magnificent Ludwig 8x12 3 ply tom in opulently clean 2nd generation Oyster Black Pearl. This is a very nice example of early 2nd generation Oyster Black Pearl, displaying the best qualities of both 1st and 3rd generation OBP, with a very oyster-y shimmer that is more 3-D and less bowling ball-ish than later '70's versions. This drum has been very well cared for with no splits and a couple small scuffs. There are no extra holes and It is 100% original, including the heads, muffler, and rods. The chrome plating on the lugs, hoops, muffler knob, and mounting bracket is excellent. There is one tiny bump in the top lip of the top hoop which is cosmetic in nature only and does not affect the tuning, sound, or integrity of the drum in any way. The blue & olive pointy badge is in beautiful condition and is from the early 1970s batch that did not have serial #'s which is particularly common for Ludwigs right around 1972. The edges are original and true, and the shell is a beautiful 3 ply with reinforcement hoops and clear maple interior. Most importantly, this drum tunes up easily and sounds amazing! Enjoy!
