For your viewing pleasure is this stunning early production 8 lug Bison snare drum from the 1980s.  This 7x14 snare is a 10 ply maple construction, & displays Bison's proprietary machined orchestral strainer, unique hoops, original orchestral snare cable wires, and early pre-badge Bison decal.  These snare drums are still widely known & used in many U.S. & European Orchestras.  They are renowned for their extreme sensitivity and articulation, which is especially noticeable the farther away from the drum you get.  This one owner drum is completely original, and in superbly well taken care of condition.  Although the Bison drum company has not produced drums in many years, their website is still up.  It has a price for this drum listed at $1390.  This unique drum will be the crown jewel in someone's arsenal, and is an heirloom quality instrument.  Enjoy!

From the Bison website:
Bison symphonic snares are used by many of the finest orchestras in the world and some of the superior features their percussionists demand are described here.  One of the key differentiating features between the symphonic and rock snare is the lever/strainer. The machined, stainless-steel symphonic lever is a highly sophisticated solution designed specifically for the demands of orchestral use. A key element is that it holds the steel, aircraft-cable snares directly into the frame. This lets the cable snares transmit their cable-wire sound more directly and powerfully to the head of the drum.  The lever is designed to "squeeze" into position, eliminating the loud snap of the snares against the bottom head that often occurs with other strainers.  The lever drops 1/2" so when the snares are in the "off" position they are well removed from the snare head. The snare tension knob is a standard 1/4"x 28 thread and allows tightening of the cable snares beyond the capabilities of normal tension knobs.
This design, combined with NGU's extreme sonorousness, helps transmit a brighter response to the shell of the drum than is normally available on symphonic drums. For an orchestra this means superior projection and an articulation that defines every stroke even at significant distance, no matter how dynamically varied.

*Shipping: Our new website platform is not always able to calculate accurate shipping rates.  We ship the grand majority of our domestic items via UPS.  The shipping rate shown may reflect accurate pricing in some cases.  In rare instances, including drum sets that need to ship in multiple boxes, items that are shipping out of the country, and items that may require substantial insurance, the shipping may be more or less than the shipping price reflected during your checkout.  If the shipping price seems like it is not accurate, please let us know so we can get an exact shipping quote for you.  In instances where the item is paid for and the shipping cost ends up being more than paid, we will need to settle on the difference prior to shipping.  In instances where the shipping ends up being less than charged at time of check out, we will happily refund you the difference.  If you require an exact shipping quote prior to your purchase, please send us a message with your postal code and we'll be happy to oblige.  Thanks
