The Down Beat was Ludwig's compact, dance-band-model built around shallower shells for a quick, articulate response, and this 4x14 mahogany snare carries that classic Ludwig snap and warmth. There are no extra holes or modifications of any kind. Most importantly, it tunes up like a champ and sounds absolutely fantastic.
