For your viewing pleasure is this great sounding 1920s 4x14 Ludwig Pioneer snare drum made with the same coveted heavy 2 piece brass shell that the black beauties and Professional models in the 1920s were made with.  It is in very good overall condition for a drum that is about a century old.  All of the tension rods and clips are original, as are the hoops. The top hoop is stamped with the "Ludwig Universal Model" stamp.  The shell is in round, with no significant dings or dents. The original strainer for this drum was the kind that attached to the top and bottom hoop with 2 screws on each side that go through both hoop, so there are no holes in the shell that were ever drilled for a strainer.  The current strainer is a very cool era correct Wilson Bros. Chicago 3-Way Strainer, which would have been an upgrade at the time since it has a more solid operation and works better.  It uses the original 2 holes on the bottom hoop only, so there are no extra holes anywhere on this drum.  The strainer functions very well, and is very useable by todays standards.  The drum tunes up easily and sounds excellent!  Enjoy the legendary sound of a Ludwig heavy 2 piece shell at a fraction of the price!
