For your viewing pleasure is this great sounding 1920s 4x14 Ludwig Pioneer snare drum made with the same coveted heavy 2 piece brass shell that the black beauties and Professional models in the 1920s were made with. It is in very good overall condition for a drum that is about a century old. All of the tension rods and clips are original, as are the hoops and wires. The top hoop is stamped with the "Ludwig Universal Model" stamp. The shell is in round and looks great. The original Ludwig "Tango" strainer (in use from 1922-53) attaches to the top and bottom hoop with 2 screws on each side, so there are no holes in the shell that were ever drilled for a strainer. The tab that turns the wires on and off is not present on this Tango strainer, so the snares are always turned on currently until a tab is replaced or the strainer is switched, an easy fix. The drum tunes up easily and sounds excellent with the wires on! Enjoy the legendary sound of a Ludwig heavy 2 piece shell at a fraction of the price! Enjoy!
