For your supreme viewing pleasure is this rare vintage Eugene Geisler snare drum built in the mid-1920s just before Slingerland became the company we know today. This 4.5x14 10-lug model is made from cast aluminum with 8 vent holes and is in overall excellent condition for being over 100 years old. This particular one has the Eugene Geisler & Co Chicago USA Pats Pend badge. The tensioning system was what those pending patents were for and it harkens back to Slingerland's banjo making origins. The banjo-style hook clips thread through the hoops and grip onto the flanges on the shell. A few of them have been replaced over the years and all of them are functional. The simple flip-down snare throw-off is original and fully functional as is the butt side strainer. These early designs are inspiring in the straight-forward efficiency while the drum world was quickly evolving. The drum tunes up well with modern heads and the vintage 12-strand wires sound great. If you are a lover of early drum design then this one is a must-have for your collection that's not only playable but displays beautifully. Enjoy!
