Crafted in the heart of the mid-1930s, this gorgeous Dobro Model 37 resonator guitar is 100% original. It's a one owner guitar that comes directly from the estate of the original owner and has spent the past 80+ years in its case inside a closet. Adorned in a luscious Sunburst finish, it exudes a timeless elegance that captivates both the eyes and the ears. Its resonant wood body, meticulously crafted with precision and care, resonates with a warmth and depth that transports players to a bygone era.
This Model 37 boasts a square neck design. Its flat neck profile and raised nut facilitates effortless slide playing. The strings are old, but still sound good. We have cleaned and conditioned the fretboard and guitar. The resonator and spider were removed, positioned correctly, and set up. It plays wonderfully and sounds fantastic with no buzzing from the original resonator.
Housed in its original Geib case, this Model 37 remains in remarkable condition, a testament to how well it was cared for. The original owner played this in the high school Hawaiian guitar club, and is pictured in his 1936 High School year book with this guitar. We are including the Hawaiian song books he used in the club. This is certainly amongst the very finest Model 37s in existence.
