For your supreme viewing pleasure is this intensely rare, vintage Slingerland DUALL Model Orchestra snare drum. It's in very well cared for condition and features a gorgeous solid mahogany shell with black lacquered finish that has some light marks and chips here and there. The shell is slightly oversized and measures closer to 5-1/2" deep. These drums were Slingerland's answer to the Super Ludwig, they debuted in 1933, and were only produced for one year. This one features the first style "PAT. APL'D FOR"  DUALL parallel strainer that started the lawsuit for copyright infringement before Slingerland tried another variation that featured "pulleys" to control the mechanism. The mechanism functions beautifully with the original coiled snare wires. It has 10 nickel tube lugs with single flange hoops. All of the clips are fully intact with some period correct replacements on the bottom. What makes this already rare snare even more rare if that it still has the original aluminum tone flange installed, which is in great condition. It has a calf head on top and modern snare side head on bottom, both of which tune up wonderfully. The original heating element was removed and the four holes have been filled with screws. There are no extra holes or modifications and the bearing edges are true and original. Most importantly, it tunes up with the greatest of ease and sounds fantastic. This drum would be right at home amongst the finest of collections, studios, or stages. If you've been on the hunt for one of these incredibly rare snares, don't snooze on this because you'd be hard pressed to find a finer example in fully functional condition. Enjoy!
