For your supreme viewing pleasure is this rare vintage Slingerland Radio King 16x18 floor tom in White Marine Pearl wrap from 1950-53.
It's built with Slingerland's legendary 3-ply mahogany interior shell. The original nickel streamlined lugs, double flanged hoops, legs, and mounts are all in very good condition with a nice patina and normal signs of age.
Modern heads fit easily on both sides, just ever so slightly snugger than a modern drum.
There are a couple of small cracks on the wrap as well as a small hole on the calf batter head that has been taped up.
The top hoop is the original Slingerland stick chopper, and the bottom is a later '50s Slingerland stick saver.
This drum was made with top and bottom factory mufflers, the top muffler is still present and functions correctly, the bottom muffler was removed prior to us acquiring it. There is one extra set of muffler holes on the top side in the panel next to the factory muffler.
It tunes up well with the original Radio King calf skin head on the batter, and Remo Control Sound on the bottom, and produces the amazing sonic signature that can only be realized with a vintage Slingerland floor tom that has seasoned for well over 70 years. Enjoy!
