For your viewing pleasure is this excellent example of a 1959-60 5″x14″ Ludwig Super 400 chrome over brass Supraphonic snare drum. It features the large blue transitional Ludwig Keystone badge used in 1959 & 1960, nice chrome-over-brass hoops with drop-gate (there is a cosmetic scratch in the bottom rim), small knob muffler, crimped snare bed, heavy brass shell, visible vertical seam in shell, original Ludwig wires, nice P-83 strainer & butt & earlier heavy imperial lugs. There are a couple of tiny micro dings, including one near the lower right side of the badge and another close to the rim two panels to the right of the strainer. The lugs look great with just a hint of micro-pin-point pitting. It displays wonderfully overall. This drum still has the original Ludwig Play-On Plastic heads on both sides & is 100% original in every way. It is a special instrument & is pure sonic bliss to play! Enjoy!
