1959 Magnatone 280 Double V 2x12 High Fidelity Stereo Guitar Combo Amplifier Brown Tolex 280A

For your extreme viewing pleasure is this unbelievably clean and original vintage Magnatone 280a Double V amplifier, made in late 1959 and purchased by us in the early 2000s from the original owner who was an accordion player who used it very seldomly at a few holiday family parties.The 280 was famously used by Buddy Holly, Neil Young, Lonnie Mack, and David Gilmour. It has plenty of volume with 50 watts of tube power through the two original 12" speakers, and the two original 5" speakers. The amp was serviced several years back, and the speaker wire for the 5" speakers was replaced with new wire at that time. The tubes are all era correct, and most if not all, are original including the coveted Made in Holland Amperex Bugle Boy 12AX7's. The stunningly lush vibrato goes from subtle to swimming in a full on drunken bliss, and while it does not have the foot switch, it has been tested with one. It's in beyond fabulous collectors condition, both cosmetically and functionally. Although the handle is no longer useable, it still looks good (not that you would ever want to use the handle on any vintage amp). Being big Magnatone fans, we've had the pleasure of owning, seeing, and playing quite a few of these 280's over the years, and this one is beyond a doubt the very cleanest by a long shot, and has the sonic beauty to match the looks.
