For your supreme viewing pleasure is this absolutely stunning time capsule 1950's Gretsch round badge Name Band outfit in original White Marine Pearl. These collector's clean drums tune up wonderfully with fabulous all original Gretsch calf skin heads and sound sublime. They nail the '50's jazz sound and vibe in a way no other can. The wrap is vibrant and displays opulently. Many vintage drum kits in White Marine Pearl show signs of yellowing over the years, but this kit has maintained beautifully. It is evident that these drums have been lovingly cared for throughout their life.
The original hardware is clean and brilliant. The original front logo calf skin bass drum head is a crown jewel. The bearing edges are all true and original, and there are no extra holes or modifications. The interiors of the early 6 ply Jasper shells are all adorned with silver sealer paint (as Gretsch enthusiasts know, the early silver sealer drums did not have paper tags). The snare drum still has the original Gretsch wires and heads, which still sound fantastic. All of the tone controls (top and bottom) are nice and fully functional, as is the original Jimmy Pratt bass drum muffler. There are a few commonly seen small incidental splits that naturally occurred early on in their life as seen in the pics, only one of which is visible when the heads are on (located at the seam of the floor tom), but are extremely stable, flat to the shell, and have remained the same for decades per the previous owner who had them since the '80s.
These drums look and sound like a dream! 1950s Gretsch sets like this without extra holes or mods and all original calf heads appear once in a blue moon, especially in this sparkling White Marine Pearl, so seize the moment! These could and should be in the movies, and would easily be right at home amongst the finest of collections, studios, and stages. Enjoy!
