For your supreme viewing delight is this vintage Ludwig 5x14 Super 400 chrome over brass Supraphonic snare drum from the early '60s in excellent condition.
Aside from the top head, it's all original including chrome over brass hoops, and red felt baseball bat muffler. The heavy brass shell has crimped snare beds, a visible vertical seam, and is sporting a pre-serial # keystone badge that's nice and tight. It weighs in at a very solid 9.4 lbs. The original P-83 strainer operates smoothly and has the original script logo butt. Also present are the early heavy Imperial lugs. Overall the chrome is in incredible condition and presents very clean. The combination of the red felt muffler along with pre-serial badge dates this drum to 1962 / early 1963.
Most importantly, this fabulous sounding snare tunes up with the greatest of ease and is pure sonic bliss to play! There's a reason these heavy brass shell Supra snares are sought after. This would be right at home amongst the finest of collections or studios. Enjoy!
