For your viewing pleasure is this beautiful 1960's Rogers Cleveland era Holiday 16x16 floor tom with flat gray interior. It is 100% original (with exception of heads). This is an extremely early Holiday beaver tail drum that dates to 1963, which was the year Rogers switched from the problematic bread and butter lugs over to the beaver tail lugs. It is also during this time they switched from Jasper shells to Keller shells. There was a short period during this switchover that thin 3 ply Keller shells were used for a few months before switching to 5 ply shells by 1964. These thin 3 ply Keller shells with re-rings are renown by some as being the best sounding shells of any Rogers drums due to their resonant qualities. It is difficult to tell if this drum is a 3 ply or a 5 ply shell since the original flat gray paint goes all the way up to the bearing edge on the inside. So while we're fairly confident this may be a 3 ply shell, it's hard to say for certain. There are no extra holes or modifications. It is in overall great condition. The wrap looks great, has a flat seam, and no splits or cracking. The bearing edges are true and original, the tone control is fully functional, and most importantly, it tunes up like a champ and sounds wonderful. This may be the perfect drum to complete your Buddy Rich Celebrity outfit with correct second floor tom. Enjoy!
