For your viewing pleasure is this excellent 1965 Ludwig Down Beat drum set in original red sparkle. It is a truly beautiful set with a few light bumps, scuffs, and very light surface scratches here and there. There are no extra holes or modifications of any kind. The bearing edges are original with no damage. Heads fit a bit snug, most notably on the bottom of the floor tom, but they all tune up wonderfully and this is one of the best sounding Down Beat sets we've had in our shop. When we received this set there was some tiny pin-point speckles of white paint here and there which we did our best to polish off, but there may still be a tiny spec found here and there if examined under close scrutiny. The floor tom has a little internal white paint loss on the reinforcement rings, the bottom hoop has a slight bend in an area but it does not affect the tuning or sound, and 2 of the legs have a bit of rust. The bass hoops have been restored and look great, the batter side hoop was missing a couple inches of inlay towards the bottom which we replaced with correct red sparkle inlay, and the inlay on the front hoop is beautiful correct replacement inlay. The bass drum has keystone serial # 217XXX, the floor tom has an internal date stamp of NOV 19 1965 and keystone serial # 220XXX, and the 12" tom has keystone serial # 220XXX. Both bass drums heads are original, as are the top heads on both toms, and all of the tension rods are original. Most importantly, the set tunes up easily and sounds absolutely fantastic. Enjoy!
