For your viewing pleasure is this excellent 1965 Ludwig Down Beat drum set in original blue sparkle. It has been well cared for, and is a truly beautiful set. There are a few light bumps, scuffs, and very light surface scratches here and there. There are no extra holes or modifications of any kind. The bearing edges are original with no damage. The hoops are slightly out of round as they often tend to be, but nothing that affects the tuning or performance of the drums. The bass hoops have the original rarely seen dark blue paint that Ludwig briefly used in the '60s, which we chose not to touch up or re-paint since it was original. The batter side bass hoop has a small 6" piece of missing inlay on the bottom. The bass drum has an internal date stamp of NOV 20 1965, and keystone serial # 225XXX. The floor tom has a slight lift on the seam, is also internally date stamped NOV 20 1965, and keystone serial # 225XXX. The month of the date stamp in the 12" tom is not legible, but the day of the month is 9 1965 and the keystone serial # is 229XXX. All of the heads are original except for one of the 12" tom heads, which is an unplayed 1970s Ludwig head that was on the bottom side. All of the tension rods are original, but there is one rod on the 12" tom that is slightly longer than the others, but is an era correct Ludwig rod. Most importantly, the set tunes up easily and sounds absolutely fantastic. Enjoy!
