For your prime viewing pleasure is this vintage Ludwig Big Beat outfit in very scarcely seen Citrus Mod from the '70s. This 3-ply drum set has clear maple interiors and is in great condition compared to most citrus mod sets we've encountered. Aside from the heads, it's all original down to the hoops, tension rods, lugs, and double tom mount. As is common knowledge amongst many Ludwig enthusiasts, due to this finish not having initially been popular with the masses when it was originally released, Ludwig decided to wrap over some of the Citrus Mod sets at the factory with Black Panther wrap. Once enthusiasts became wise to this secret, they started peaking under the wrap of black panther sets, and when they would discover one, they would carefully remove the Black Panther wrap revealing the beautiful Citrus Mod finish that had been protected from UV light and general wear for many years. This is why some Citrus Mod sets, such as this one, look as great as they do, and also have some light signs of the original wrap being removed. It is also how this Citrus wrap has maintained it's color as beautifully and vividly as it has. The bass drum wrap has some glue residue at the seam where it was glued back down at some point. There are some extremely thin, stable, and flat splits in a few areas as shown, which are only evident under close scrutiny. The 16" floor tom has enlarged leg mount holes that are fully covered by the mount on the outside and barely visible under the washers on the inside, as well as the bottom lug hole of each lug. The inside of all the drums are signed by Cheap Trick drummer Bun E. Carlos, who also circled the date stamps and previously owned and played them. Some of the interiors of the drums show signs of wear. The 12" and 13" toms have internal date stamps from August 1970. The front bass hoop inlay is an excellent well matching  modern replacement. There are no extra holes or other modifications of any kind. The edges are true and original. Most importantly, it tunes up with ease, sounds fantastic and bombastic, and is ready to take the stage. Enjoy!
