1970 Ludwig 5x14 Supraphonic Snare Drum
1970 Ludwig 5x14 Supraphonic Snare Drum
Condition: Vintage
For your viewing pleasure is this superb sounding 5x14 Ludwig Supraphonic snare drum built in 1970. It has a Ludwig snare side head and Ludwig wires which both still sound great, and an Evens coated G1 on top. There are no extra holes or modifications of any kind. As can be seen in the pics, the shell has some flaking and pitting of the finish that is typical of chrome plated Ludwig snares of this era, most notably on the back three panels opposite of the badge. The original 1st version P-85 strainer operates smoothly, as does the tone control. All of the tension rods and washers are original. The top hoop is original, and the bottom hoop as an era correct Ludwig Super Sensitive hoop (the only difference being the small drop gate hole where the snare wire strings pass through). The pointy B&O badge has 6 digit serial # 831XXX. Most importantly, this drum tunes up like a champ and sounds wonderful. Enjoy!
