For your prime viewing pleasure is this rare vintage Tama 5x14 King Beat No. 8588 Seamless Steel snare drum from the mid-70s. It's in great overall condition and sounds fantastic. This drum was made in Japan when Hoshino was transitioning from Star to Tama. The heavy steel shell has an atractive knurled center band as opposed to the eight line shell design and bears a Tama Imperialstar badge with the Star parallel strainer which dates this to 1974 as shown in the catalog page from that year. It has 10 E-model lugs which also first appeared in the 74 catalog, and triple flange hoops before they switched to die cast hoops on the No. 8005 model. The King Beat parallel strainer and butt system works smoothly and has the original Snappy Snares. The one touch tone control operates well with scratches on the knob. There are no extra holes or modifications. Most importantly, it tunes up well with a signature warm, fat 1970s Tama steel shell sound. Enjoy!
