For your prime viewing pleasure is this fantastic vintage 1950s Gretsch 5.5x14 No. 4157 Name Band snare drum in original Midnight Blue wrap. It came with a matching Gretsch Bop Outfit that dates from the 1954-57 period. Please see our other listings if interested in purchasing together with that set at a discount. It's all original aside from the heads, which are a Remo Coated Ambassador on top with very little play wear and a nearly new Remo Ambassador snare side head on bottom. The original muffler and Micro-Sensitive throw-off with 5381 adjustable snare bracket functions properly with the original Gretsch Responso wires. The round badge is tight and looks great with a beautiful patina. The interior of the 3 ply shell is in excellent condition with clean original silver sealer paint. All of the chrome is in good condition with some typical light wear for the age. There is a small amount of wrap that chipped near the edge that is completely covered by the head and cannot be seen unless the head is removed (see pics). The bearing edges are true and original and the drum tunes up well and exudes that Great Gretsch Sound we all love so much! This would be a fantastic addition to any fine vintage collection or recording studio. Enjoy!
