For your viewing pleasure is this Gretsch model 4158 5.5x14 10 lug snare drum in rarely seen Peacock Satin Flame from the 1970s.  It is in overall good shape, there is a mark near and on the badge from where it must have been bumped. As far as satin flame wraps go, this has held up very nicely with no spider webbing.  The chrome shows very nicely and the original die cast hoops look great.  The stainer is the original 1st version of the Lightning throw-off that Gretsch used up until 1975, which means the lever is on the side instead of in the center like the 2nd version.  The reason they switched it to the center on the 2nd version is because you usually need to push on the center of the strainer when engaging it to lock it in on the first version, as is the case with this snare.  The edges are true and original, and there are no extra holes or modifications.  The muffler is present and fully functional.  It has a set of 42 strand replacement wires that sound great. Most importantly, it tunes up wonderfully and sounds amazing. If you've been looking for this snare in Peacock Satin Flame, seize the moment as these do not pop up all that often.  Enjoy!
