This is the 6 lug model made with the same coveted heavy 2 piece brass shell with welded back edges that the highly coveted Black Beauties and Professional models of this era were made with. It is in very good overall well cared for condition for a drum that is over a century old, and the nickel plating shined up beautifully. All of the tension rods and clips are original, as are the hoops. The top hoop is stamped "Ludwig & Ludwig Chicago". The shell is in round and the edges are true. The original No. 338 Pat. Pending strainer works smoothly with modern wires. These 15" snares are seriously rotund backbeat machines, and speak astoundingly into mics. It tunes up easily with a fat and crisp sound.
