For your extreme viewing pleasure is this prime example of a vintage closet-classic Ludwig drum set that was purchased new in the '70s, played a few times, and then put away in their cases and stored in the closet until now. This outstanding 1977/1978 Ludwig Big Beat outfit with optional 24" bass drum is finished in Ludwig's timeless Black Cortex wrap, which is in absolutely stunning cosmetic condition. There is hardly a mark on the entire set, and it is quite evident that they were very well cared for, bedroom kept during their short time of use, and safely stored ever since. The chrome is all in excellent condition. With the exception of the resonant side heads on the toms and the batter side head of the bass, this set is 100% original including all tension rods, washers, T's, claws, beautiful original Ludwig Weather Master coated heads on batter side of toms and original Ludwig logo resonant side of bass drum. There are no extra holes or modifications of any kind. The clear maple interiors of these 6 ply shells are in great condition, and the bearing edges are true and original. The bass drum hoops are in great shape with minimal wear, the silver sparkle inlay strips look great, and the few little paint chips it had were touched up with a paint marker, which looks great. All four pointy blue and olive badges have very close serial numbers and are all between 1785905 and 1785922. All three tone control / mufflers are present and fully functional. Most importantly, the whole set tunes up like an absolute champ, and is pure sonic bliss to play. This set is a true time capsule piece, and almost looks like it is new when set up. Due to the originality and overall cleanliness, this set would equally be at home amongst the finest of collections, studios, or stages. Enjoy!
