For your supreme viewing pleasure is this exceedingly rare and stunning vintage Ludwig transition badge Jazz Festival snare drum in scarce Oyster Pink Pearl wrap. The blue transition badge is considered by many to be a truly golden era of Ludwig's drum building history. This is Ludwig's legendary 3-ply mahogany/poplar/mahogany shell. The red ink internal date stamp is smudged. "5x14" is written in black in the interior during manufacturing, as well as "Bun E. Carlos" where Bun signed his name when he previously owned it. This drum is 100% original down to the wires and Ludwig Playon heads, and it has been meticulously cared for throughout the years. The oyster pink pearl wrap shows beautifully with a flat seam and the lightest signs of wear. There are no extra holes or modifications of any kind. There are some light surface scuffs around the muffle knob, and a very small split (aprox. .25") to the left of the badge which is only noticeable under close scrutiny. The original WFL P-83 strainer is beautiful and operates smoothly. The small knob muffler looks great and is fully functional and the bowtie lugs are in fantastic condition with no pitting. The hoops are the original prized chrome over brass hoops with drop gate bottom hoop. The bearing edges are true and original. It tunes up beautifully and sounds fantastic.
