For your viewing pleasure is this stellar Ludwig nickel over brass, heavy two piece shell, Professional "All-Metal", 4x14 "Dance Model" snare drum (as cataloged by Ludwig in the 20s). It features 8 lugs, & the Ludwig Pat Pending strainer, which dates the drum between 1918-1925. It's in great shape, and hard to believe it is nearing 100 years in age. It is completely 100% original including the calf skin heads which still tune up and are playable (bottom is a Ludwig stamped slunk head which is in great condition, top head looks great but has two tiny holes). The tension rods/clips, and gut snare wires are also original. There is some light, typical handling wear including a couple very tiny/light dings, but this drum has an overall great look and has been well cared for. The original Pat Pending strainer operates perfectly, & displays some typical oxidation. There are no extra holes or modifications of any kind, and the interior of the shell still retains a paper tag from the long-gone "Ridgewood Music Store" in NJ from which it came from. Note the old 5 digit phone #, a very cool piece of history and provenance! This is the exact same heavy two piece shell & construction as used on the iconic 4x14 Black Beauties of the time, & would be the ultimate addition to any recording studio, stage, or collection. This drum tunes up perfectly. It can & should be played and enjoyed for many years to come. Enjoy!
