1946 Ludwig Pioneer 6.5x14 8 Lug Snare Drum Natural Maple

For your viewing pleasure is this stunning Ludwig Pioneer 6.5x14 snare drum with internal date stamp of "4606" (6th month of 1946). It was professionally stripped and re-finished in lovely clear lacquer, and is a site to behold.  Although these 1946 Pioneer models were cataloged as mahogany shell drums, this drum was built with  a rare and beautiful maple shell.  In order to give this drum an era correct look, the modern metal flesh hoops of the replacement heads have masking tape on them to emulate the correct look of the calf skin heads that would have originally come on the drums.  The original P-80 strainer looks great, has some oxidation on the arm, and operates smoothly.  All tension rods and washers are original, as are the nickel plated hoops. There are no extra holes or structural modifications. The bearing edges are true and original.  It displays wonderfully and would be right at home amongst the finest of studios, or stages.  Most importantly, it tunes up like a champ and sounds fantastic!  Enjoy!
