For your viewing pleasure is this ultra rare Sonor beach wood "Club Super Champion" bop set in stunning Red Slate. This set was originally sold new from Assembly Music in Bath UK, as can be seen from the original store decals on the shells. This set is original with no extra holes and the wrap is in excellent condition, most of the heads are replacements, but the beautiful front 18" Sonor logo head is original. There is a repair on the 8x12 tom that is safe to assume was performed on 4-24-75 by Eddie Ryan of Eddie Ryan Custom Drums in London as evidenced by the dated internal paper tags inside the shell. There was an internal split in the shell between the mounting bracket hole and the edge, as can be seen in the picture. It is a rock solid repair that has held up perfectly over the years, and the integrity of the shell has not been effected in any way. On the floor tom only, there is some rust on the bottom hoop, some of the lugs and tension rods, and on the muffler knob. The hardware on the 18 and 12 is beautiful. The edges on all of the drums are true and original. This set tunes up easily in a wide range of tunings and absolutely sings in high jazz / bebop tunings. If you've been searching for an original vintage Sonor bop set, you may be waiting a long time before another as stunning as this becomes available. Enjoy!
