For your extreme viewing pleasure is this rarely seen Yamaha 6.5x14 Mike Bordin signature hammered copper snare drum. This made in Japan model was released in 2004 and features a unique half-hammered finish on the heavy 2mm thick copper shell. The serial number dates this drum to 2007. Aside from the top head, it's all original down to the resonant head and wires. It's in excellent well taken care of condition with almost zero wear, some polishing marks here and there on the shell, and a few small spots on the top hoop where the black coating has worn. This snare sounds unreal! Copper shell snares blend the warmth of wood with the projection of metal, producing a deep, dark low end that is sensitive and highly responsive. Enjoy!

A kind of special hammering was processed on the lower half of the 2-mm thick copper shell for him who is known as a power hitter, which eventually enabled the snare drum to sound richer and bigger in various directions.
14"x 6.5" 2mm thick Copper Shell
Copper snare drums cut thru loud music but have a warmer tone than other metal shells. Copper shells have enhanced low-end frequencies that give them a darker tone that works great in all musical situations. The Mike Bordin snare drum has an extra-thick 2mm shell to stand up to Mike's aggressive playing.
Hand-Hammered on the bottom half
Hand-hammering distresses the metal and gives it even darker tonal characteristics. This drum is hammered on the bottom half for warmth, but the top half is not hammered so that the drum can take the punishment of even the heaviest hitter.
Anton Fig style lugs
The Mike Bordin snare uses the same lugs found on the ever-popular Anton Fig snare. These lugs are borrowed from our line of marching drums for clean looks and durability.
Black coated rims and unique finish
The 2.3mm thick triple flange Dyna Hoops are strong, giving you precise tuning yet they allow the drum to open up. The rims on the SD6465MB are black coated, and the shell is "heat finished" to give it a beautiful dark finish.
